In this edition of the Laura Report we interview President of Maple Distributing, Mark Klein on Perlick and their Signature Series Products. This is Perlick’s flagship line of luxury undercounter products. It contains their premiere collection of indoor and outdoor refrigeration. Featuring a wealth of features, their most powerful and efficient cooling system, and a variety of industry exclusive sizes and styles.
Perlick was founded in 1917 and was manufacturing brass fittings and refrigerating beer lines for breweries in Wisconsin. Perlick is a leader in commercial bar and beverage systems and in 2005 they started their residential line of undercounter refrigeration.
What products can be found in Perlick’s Signature Series?
The Perlick Signature Series has an array of products that can come in indoor models or outdoor models. The different products can come in 15″, 24″ or 48″ wide units. They also have shallow depth units, and ADA compliant units.
What sets Perlick apart from other brands?
There are 2 main features that set Perlick refrigerators apart from their competitors. (1) The units get to temperature 2 to 3 times faster and (2) they hold temperature 72-210% better.
How you might ask? The compressor in each refrigerator has 1,000 BTUs, which is, on a average, 3 times larger than it’s competitors. The compressor forces the air around the unit through the convection fan and intake. The interior of the units is stainless steel. The stainless interior works as a conductor of cold and insulates all the drinks. The units themselves do wear significantly more because of the compressor and stainless interior but without these you wouldn’t be able to operate so well. Their shelves are also full extension wire shelves so the cold air can flow freely around the contents in the units. All these features allows their units to go as low as 33º and hold that temperature.
Perlick Wine Units
It is very important to hold your temperature with wine units and Perlick is able to do that with their compressors, no problem. The wine units have what they call a variable speed compressor that works like cruise control on your car and keeps air flowing constantly at your desired temperature making little adjustments as it is needed. Most compressors are a standard compressor and turn themselves off and on as the temperature adjusts. You can also adjust the racks of the wine units to fit any bottle sizes.
Perlick Beer Dispenser
The beer dispenser is in Perlick’s heritage and they do it very well. The refrigeration part of the beer unit has the same attributes as listed above. Each beer unit has a snorkle kit that pumps the beer out of your keg and into your cup. This snorkle kit drives that cold forced air up into the column, this helps keep the same temperature in the column as in the refrigerator. The inside of the column is insulated all along the sides and at the top. The faucets are stainless steel, not plated. The flow control on their faucets allow you to adjust the flow of the beer so you can regulate the amount of foam you get on the head of your beer.
Perlick gives you the option to stack their units so you can go vertical instead of horizontal. This works great for smaller areas where you want to utilize the space better.
