Rebate amounts range from $45 to $1,600, depending on the appliance. Participants can get an extra $75 for recycling an old appliance.
Reservations start on April 7 at 7 a.m. Participants have to wait until April 16 to purchase the appliance.
Certain energy-efficient models of refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, washers, dishwashers and hot water heaters apply.
Steven Holt with Factory Builder Stores said he’s already been getting calls about the program
“A lot of the appliances on the market right now are not E-Star rated. For example, a standard top-load washing machine uses about 50 gallons of water per cycle, where if you do the E-Star rated, on this program you’re looking at about 10 gallons per cycle,” Holt said.
On April 7 you can reserve a rebate by calling (877) 780-3039 or online.
People can apply for up to two rebates per address.
The appliance purchases can still qualify for other rebates, such as through Austin Energy.
